At the Renshinkan, we teach Jiyushin-ryu Aikibudo and Shinto Muso-ryu Jodo with an emphasis on the Mind-Body-Spirit connection, known in Japanese as ki-ken-tai-itchi [気剣体一致].

Having a more traditional view of martial arts, we do not treat our dojo as a business, nor do we participate in competitions or tournaments. This, combined with our use of modern teaching methods that emphasize the mastery of formal techniques and immersive drills, creates our unique approach to martial arts that empowers students to explore higher levels of creativity and encourages them to break free from rigid forms or the obsession with winning and losing.

Our dojo is a dilemma-rich, but safe, inclusive environment where everyone is welcome to come train; although learning self-defense is one of the focuses of our curriculum, there are many side-benefits, including discipline, self-confidence, stress management, and developing a calm, centered mind. While training can be serious much of the time, the overall atmosphere of our dojo is one of joyful practice filled with respect and support for each other.

If this sounds interesting to you, we invite you to contact us and begin a journey that will not only help you develop martial skills but also nurture your mind, body, and spirit.
