The Renshinkan is not a commercial business, but rather a dedicated community of students practicing and teaching what our teachers have passed down to us over the years. As such, membership dues should not be considered a payment for services rendered (like you might find at a gym or profit-oriented martial arts school), but rather a monthly contribution made by all members (teachers included) to support and maintain our mutual training space. While there is no fee to learn our art, we do need to pay the bills.

Dues are currently $130 / month and must be paid by the 20th of each month in order for us to pay rent on time. Please plan accordingly. Dues may be subject to change with advance notice.

New students: We offer a 50% discount for your first 3 months to encourage you to stick around long enough to develop an informed idea of who we are, what we do, and whether you would like to continue training with us. We also offer reduced rates for First Responders (LEO/Fire/EMT) and families; please contact us for more information.

Students from other Jiyushinkai or Shinto Muso-ryu dojo in good standing are always welcome to come train with us. There is no mat fee for visitors, but donations are always welcomed and appreciated. All we ask is that you contact us in advance, tell us who your teacher is (if we don’t already know you), and let us know when you plan to be here.

You are free to end your training whenever you please. But if you need to take an extended break for any reason, please communicate this to us before the fact so that we can adjust accordingly. We tend to look at money in a more traditional Japanese than Western sense. Dues are not contingent on you actually coming to the dojo; they are a promise we all make to support our dojo until such time as we formally stop training. Communication is key!

If you have an interest in engaging in sincere spirit forging in a joyous, welcoming, safe environment, please contact us or come visit the dojo during training hours.
